About the Company

Our client is a respected Tier 1 automotive supplier with a strong presence in North America, known for its commitment to engineering excellence, advanced manufacturing processes, and continuous improvement. Operating in a high-precision, safety-critical environment, they serve major OEMs and are driven by the values of toughness, high quality, and know-how. Their culture is collaborative, forward-thinking, and rooted in technical depth and operational integrity.

The Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive Engineering & Maintenance Manager to lead a cross-functional team responsible for engineering and maintenance within a dynamic automotive manufacturing facility.

In this high-impact role, you will oversee a team of 8–10 Process Engineers and provide leadership to the Maintenance Manager and their group of Supervisors and Coordinators. You will play a critical role in driving process optimization, equipment reliability, capital planning, and continuous improvement across both forging and machining operations.

This position combines elements typically found in Manufacturing Engineering Manager and Quality Management roles, offering a unique leadership opportunity for someone with a strong technical background and a hands-on, solutions-oriented mindset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of Process Engineers, supporting professional development and performance excellence.
  • Provide oversight and direction to the Maintenance department, ensuring effective execution of a robust Preventive Maintenance (PM) Program.
  • Drive improvements in safety, process efficiency, and manufacturing quality across forging and machining operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on new product launches, process design, tooling, and cost estimation.
  • Develop and manage budgets for engineering and maintenance functions, including capital expenditure planning and project justification.
  • Support and sustain manufacturing best practices in line with industry standards and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Ensure compliance with relevant quality standards, including QS/TS systems, FMEA, and SPC.
  • Analyze operational issues and implement technical solutions to reduce downtime, waste, and variation.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng)
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in automotive manufacturing, including leadership of engineering and/or maintenance teams.
  • Strong background in process engineering, with hands-on involvement in forging processes; exposure to machining is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or contributing to preventive maintenance programs and asset reliability strategies.
  • Familiarity with quality systems and methodologies such as QS/TS standards, FMEA, and SPC.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or related field).
  • Valid Passport and Driver’s License (occasional travel may be required).
